HI, I’M
BRITTANY
Founder & Lead Instructor
at My Dance Day
I’ve been dancing since I was old enough to stand up, and I’ve been sharing that joy with little ones for over 23 years. My Dance Day is my dream come true — a place where every child gets to move, laugh, and feel like a star.
THE JOURNEY TO MY DANCE DAY

My first dance recital
If you ask Brittany Shane where her love of dance began, she’ll tell you it started at two years old in Baraboo, Wisconsin — and apparently, she never really stopped moving!
A lifelong dancer, Brittany grew up studying ballet, jazz, and tap. In high school, she continued dancing while discovering her love of choreography as choreographer for the Baraboo High School pom squad. Dance was always more than an activity for Brittany; it was a way to express herself, connect with others, and have fun.
After graduating from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, Brittany headed west to San Francisco in 2000. At Star Dance Studio, she began teaching children ages 3–13, specializing in ballet, tap, and acrobatics. It was there that she discovered something even more exciting than performing herself: watching a child discover the magic of dance for the very first time.
In 2010, Brittany brought her love of dance to Austin, Texas, where she continued teaching with local dance studios. Alongside teaching, she has enjoyed a career as a musician and performer, including opportunities to open for artists such as Heart, Foreigner, and Peter Frampton. Whether she’s on a stage or dancing around with a room full of three-year-olds, Brittany brings the same enthusiasm, energy, and love of performing.
After years of teaching, choreographing, performing, and watching little dancers grow, Brittany knew it was time to create something of her own.
And that’s how My Dance Day was born.
My Dance Day is a joyful blend of dance, music, imagination, movement, and a whole lot of heart. Every song, prop, movement, and silly game is thoughtfully chosen to help little ones develop coordination and dance skills while also building confidence, creativity, independence, and friendships.
Welcome to My Dance Day — where every little dancer gets to shine!
What I Love Most
There’s no moment I love more than seeing a child perform their first plié, tendu or forward roll! I love see a child’s big smile when they accomplish a moment for the very first time.
I also love the parents. I love getting to know them and keeping them posted on everything that we are learning each month.
When I’m not teaching, you’re probably find me playing with my pets – Trucker a mixed Terrier, Earth a Whip It, Cookie the cat and our two guinea pigs Snowball (who is a very rare, white colored guinea pig with blue eyes) and Mario.
Quick Fun Facts
A few things about me that you might not know from class.
Dancing Since
2 years old
I told my mom I wanted to take dance when I was 2 years old. It was a year early for their beginners class, but they let me in early because I did really well in my trial class.
Favorite
movie
Roman Holiday with Audrey Hepburn
Favorite
Sport
I love taking Master swim team classes in Austin. I’ve been taking Master classes since 2000. I worked at University of California San Francisco and would walk across the street to their lap pool on my lunch breaks.
Dream A
Little Dream
To own a horse one day. I grew up with a Shetland pony named Queenie. I’d ride her around our backyard while my dad mowed the lawn. I’ve always had a love for horses.
Favorite
Food
Passionate vegetarian! My favorite drink is a oat milk mocha.
“Every child I work with leaves a little more confident than when they came in. I appreciate every minute I get to spend with each dancer. We work hard to get to our goals, but we also know how to have lots of fun!”
